Astrophotography is another area I’m new to but passionate about. Like wildlife photography, it requires very specific kit, a lot of patience, hours of travel to be somewhere with less light pollution than where I live in London, being up most of the night, good weather, clear skies, and specific camera settings to get a half-decent result.

I plan on getting a sky tracker at some point, which the camera mounts to and moves in tiny increments to compensate for the Earth’s rotation, meaning you can do far longer exposures and capture more light. Without one, you’re limited to around 20 seconds, after which the stars start to streak into lines making the photo look out of focus. A sky tracker would make a huge difference to the quality of shots and sharpness of images I’m able to capture.
